Chapter 3: "Finding Love that Won't Fail Even When I Do
I'm busy. I do for my husband. For my kids. For the ministries I work with at church. For my job. For my extended family. For our family. For our church family. If you had asked me last week, was I comfortable with so much "busy" in my life, I would have told you "Yes," and that "I constantly reassess my priorities and only take on #value-added activities in my life..."
After reading this week's chapter, I'm not so sure that's a totally true statement. WHY am I so busy?! What void am I seeking to fill my life?!
Reading Chapter 3 in A Confident Heart by Renee Swope challenged to re-think all my value added activities and consider the possibility that maybe I was getting a temporary sense of fulfillment by doing and leading and buying....
...when perhaps all that I really need was to look past the PEOPLE and THINGS in my life and focus on the Giver of those things...
My favorite bible verse is Matthew 6:33 and perhaps this week's bible study is actually helping me to APPLY the verse in a new light....
I don't have all the answers right now, but I'm thankful that God sparked the question in my heart; challenged me to consider my actions and motives and really look to God to determine why I chose to do all that I do.
My Prayer: Lord, you told me in your word that my heart can be fueled by many a thing but the only lasting thing that will truly fill the voids in my life is a relationship with you. Help me to consider my motives in the things that I do. Help me to dig deep to reveal any past hurts that I've attempted to cover up. Help me to truly seek you and the #priceless unfailing love that you want to share with me. In Jesus' name... Amen
Great and well put. I like this !
